This refers to grinding stones that are usable throughout the whole thickness. The entire volume consists of a binder in which abrasive crystals are incorporated. Since the binder is more or less soft, binder is destroyed during grinding and spent crystals are released. The abrasion depends more on the binder than on the hardness of the grinding crystals. This produces a fine grinding mud that must be rinsed off again and again (except for machine stones).
These stones must be regularly dressed.artificial stones and natural stones fall into this group. But there are also continuous diamond stones.
