Many swear by this strategy as a compromise:
a slightly increased effort
during clamping
and, when the cutting edge angle is correct, the entire bevel must be removed:
stands opposite:
by maintaining the grinding angle, the cutting angle can be maintained for any length of time.
This might make you want to use a hollow bevel or a smaller bevel angle with a micro bevel. But maybe you could continue freehand grinding for a while first, as long as the bevel isn't too worn out.
