Steel grades

How does the steel grade affect grindability?

The role of the particular steel alloy is somewhat unclear to me. Especially as far as artificial stones are concerned, one often reads: "for low-alloy steels...". My own chisels are a couple of decades old, and I assume they are low alloy. So how modern steel grades (e.g. chrome vanadium steel) affect sharpenability, I don't know. Addendum: I just read that apparently CrV steel is also considered low-alloyed, since the proportion of alloying substances is less than 5%.

HSS (High Speed Steel), however, is considered "high alloy". That is why diamond and CBN play an important role here.

I do not deal with it in detail here. So, on the topic of "Grinding turning irons (HSS)" you will not find much here.
