This refers to machines that grind slowly on the round side. Most often, they also run in a water bath. Slow here means that the water for cooling does not splash around in the workshop. There are a few makes, but they all look suspiciously like Tormek machines.
Here you don't seem to have any problems with annealed steel. Even when I leave out the water, I haven't noticed any heating of my irons. On the other hand, major changes in shape do become a test of patience. I actually find the standard disc on my T4 to be too slow for shape changes. Tormek does not offer a "Black Stone" for the T4 (max. diameter 200mm/8in). There, the diamond stone DC-200 is the only one that really takes something away. With its grit of 360, it could still be expanded to the coarser side. I might still try to find a really coarse CBN wheel from another manufacturer.
